'Modern science is eminently a team effort, and receiving this title is not an exception. This would have not been possible without a long list of colleagues, collaborators and mentors. I would especially like to thank the excellent Associate Researchers of our laboratory, who do most of the actual science, and to Simon Lovestone and Noel Buckley for their crucial mentorship and support. And, most important above all, to the support of my wife and my parents, who have always and unconditionally been there in the good and the bad moments.'

Jacinta O'Shea, Associate Professor, Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford.

'I joined the Department of Psychiatry and OHBA last October, having previously worked in NDCN and Experimental Psychology. It has been an exciting time to join. The importance of mental health research is rising up the agenda, foregrounded by the Covid-19 crisis. My new research program, supported by Wellcome, aims to advance cognitive and brain stimulation treatment approaches to depression. I am building a team and we will soon launch our new “Translational Neurostimulation Laboratory”. I’m excited by the prospect of working together with my talented DPhil students and new incoming postdoctoral researchers. My experience of the department so far is that it is a welcoming, dynamic and friendly place, with lots of exciting research going on. I’m delighted to be a member of such a thriving intellectual environment as I develop my research programme over the next several years.'
