The Staff Specialist/Senior Medical Officer Emergency Department will be responsible for the provision of efficient quality medical services to outpatients of the Ipswich Hospital. Our Emergency Department treats 200+ patients per day allowing staff to obtain experience across a broad range of cases.

About the role

As the Staff Specialist/Senior Medical Officer you will be expected to participate in the provision, development and maintenance of an effective, efficient and equitable clinical service to outpatients of the hospital clients and to contribute to the continual upgrading of medical education and dissemination of knowledge to staff and patients.

Our Emergency Department treats 200+ patients per day allowing staff to obtain experience across a broad range of cases.

About You

The successful candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Ability to provide high quality medical care to patients in an emergency situation together with knowledge of current emergency medicine treatments and protocols.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary health care team.
  • High level written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise and train junior staff.

It is a mandatory requirement for the successful applicant to be Registered as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia and registered as a specialist in Emergency Medicine or Paediatric Emergency Medicine.
